Day 1 of testing

I started the testing process today!! Things didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped, but we got through it. I checked in at the hospital and then went directly to the radiography department. After a 25 minute wait for the medicine to arrive from Pharmacy, I finally was called back and they administered the shot. The shot is Thyrogen and it will make my TSH (thyroid stimulatin hormone) levels rise to where they're supposed to be for the testing but I don't ever have to go off of my thyroid medicine! Yay! (This is a wonderful thing!!!!) Tomorrow morning, we'll repeat the process and then Wednesday I'll take the radioactive iodine pill for the blooddraw on Thursday and then my body scan on Friday. It'll be a busy week! To top it off, Mother Nature has decided to move in for the next few days with a nice dose of SNOW!!! So...I am not going to be driving back and forth like I planned (I have to go to a nearby city for all of my tests...a 45 minute drive that can be very treacherous in bad weather) and instead, I will spend the day in the city running a bunch of errands and getting a few things accomplished. I cannot miss my Wednesday appointment because it's a $9,000 appointment with specific medicines designed just for me!! If I miss the appointment, I still pay for the drug. Not to mention that we have to start this entire process over! Yuck!

So, there's your update for the day! I don't know if I'll update before Thursday, but I'm hoping to have the Thursday lab results within a day (if not earlier), so as soon as I get those results, I'll post something. I'm not a doctor, but depending on the number comes back from the bloodwork, I'll have a pretty good idea if it's good news or bad news. So...keep your fingers crossed that we get LOW numbers and good results!! :o)

Jen, I've been thinking ALOT about you lately but haven't taken the time to write. Sorry. I know this process isn't one that you enjoy and that it isn't easy. Keep your chin up! Hopefully all will go well and remember you are in my thoughts and prayers even when you don't hear from me! Miss you! Love Teresa
