I think I'm broken.
So, I'm on day 7 of this low-iodine diet and something odd is happening. I've developed a taste bud (or something!) on the right side of my mouth that makes everything have a VERY odd flavor to it. It's like a very brief gross taste that pops in for a second. Blech. What is going on?!?! Am I broken? Is this "the end" for me? I had some white grape juice with supper last night and that's when I noticed the weird flavor and it hasn't left. The "weird flavor" only appears when I eat something. Anybody have any ideas? If not, then I might have to go back to regular eating!!! Ha! I wish.

It might have something to do with your cold, a saliva gland or sinus acting up, not draining right. You might have some ketosis (not a bad thing here)from not eating as many calories as usual, and different type of food. Just a couple of guesses! I may be totally off base, also!
Just hang in there... It would be fun to help you enjoy that first meal back to normal! ;)
(And No idea re the other stuff- grmasusie sounds like she knows!)
an olive garden party! wish I could be there!
Is the spot sore?
@Cheri...no, the spot isn't sore. It's almost like it's just my salivary gland that's producing a yucky taste. It's the same taste that I had after I had my radiation treatments (the pill version) and the "lovely" gift it would give me was a nice metallic taste in my mouth. Blech. Some of the girls at work wondered if my body was really craving iodine, so it's really searching for it?? I think it's just plain 'ol mad at me for putting it through this diet and so it makes a metallic taste appear in my mouth!! These bodies of ours can be kinda tricky sometimes!!! :o)
Hey, do you need somebody to help you celebrate at Olive Garden?
