Beautiful Advice

A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine sent me an e-mil that was titled, "Beautiful Advice." I have read the thoughts over and over since then and I still feel moved by them. I want to keep working on them. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I have!!

Beautiful Advice

An Angel says, 'Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice.'

1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.
5. Delegate tasks to capable others.

6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
9. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.
10. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.

11. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
12. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.
13. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.
14. Get enough rest
15. Eat right.

16. Get organized so everything has its place.
17. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.
18. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
19. Every day, find time to be alone.
20. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.

21. Make friends with Godly people.
22. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.
23. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good 'Thank you Jesus.'
24. Laugh.
25. Laugh some more!

26. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.
27. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).
28. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).
29. Sit on your ego
30. Talk less; listen more.

31. Slow down.
32. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.
33. Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before.

'If God is for us, who can be against us?' (Romans 8:31)

Evolution of Dance

Neisha kindly pointed this one out today. It made me laugh! Does it bring back memories, or what!? :) However, I did find myself thinking, "Is that how I really looked?" *laugh*

Plugging Along

Hello there! Do you think that I've forgotten about this blog that I have? I haven't!!! :) I just have loved the quote that was in the post before this one, so I've really enjoyed just stopping by and re-reading the quote and I haven't felt an urgent need to update. The quote is a good one, that's for sure! One I hope that I don't soon forget!

Speaking of quotes, I've enjoyed this one that Leilani posted on her blog recently. It says, "When we find it hard to leave the place of prayer is when we know we've found the presence of God." Isn't that just a wonderful quote? I have just SO appreciated thinking on that since Leilani posted it. I really hope to know this more and more as life goes on.

Things with me have been going good. Nothing extra special has been happening, just life. I am taking two classes at UW this semester, so I stay rather busy throughout the week. My weekends have been spent just relaxing and catching up on everything. I tell you, I have really come to love being home on the weekends with no plans. It's wonderful!! Of course, if things come up, I do enjoy that, too, but there is nothing quite like being home. :)

I had some friends over for supper this week and that was enjoyable. It was the first time that I had company for supper in a little over a year (don't judge me! ;), so they felt quite special. :) *laugh* I'm not one who loves to cook and bake and such, so I don't often have people over. Maybe when I get a bigger apartment on the ground floor next summer, that will change a little. We'll see!

The UW basketball season has started up again, so I'm looking forward to attending a few games. I have season tickets to the women's basketball games and I occasionally attend one of the men's games. I quite enjoy the women's games. If you've never gone to one before, you should! They're just as exciting and fun!! :)

Thanksgiving is coming up, so I'm looking forward to a couple extra days off of work. I plan to have all of my house cleaning and homework done by that point so that I can laze around and read books!! Yay! :)

I'll let this be all for now. I just thought that I'd update my blog so that you know that I'm alive and doing well. Take care until next time!

Remember this...

"Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle."

And, I'm done. :)

Yes, all of the assignments that I procrastinated on have been submitted for a grade! Two papers and four journals (each journal had six to ten pages). Whew! I was up until midnight last night working on all of it, along with the math homework that I had to finish. Now I need to start on projects that are due next week and that I have to present on.

Advising week starts on Monday and that always keeps me SUPER busy. Not only will I be helping students and advising some of them, but I also have to truck across campus to meet with MY advisor to figure out what classes I should take this spring. Most of you already know that I'm a non-trad, taking a couple classes at a time while working full time. Why do I do this? Because my job pays for it. Plus I don't want to go back to living a life of poverty that a person lives when they are a full time student. Besides...if I have things figured out correctly, I can finish my degree in four years, and so that's what I'm continuing to work on! Of course, that plan requires me to take TWO classes every fall and spring semester, and that can be rather overwhelming at times. But...if I don't procrastinate and I keep on task, usually it's manageable. :)

And that's the current update of my days! I'm tired today but I'm feeling really good about finishing my assignments on time! Wahoo! :)

Procrastination

To procrastinate is: to defer action; delay: to procrastinate until an opportunity is lost.

Second definition of procrastination: ME.

Yes, I do believe that I'm the queen of procrastination!! This weekend, I had three papers and four class journals to complete so that I can submit them on Tuesday. How long have I had to prepare these items? One month. When did I start? Last week. Aye carumba.

I obviously became VERY lazy with these tasks over the past month and I sure had plenty of excuses as to why I was behind and why I wasn't getting things done. A friend of mine has often said to me, "Just do it!"...unfortunately, I did not practice that this past month. (Not that I wasn't way busy with other things this month...just not with this particular class.) So, my consequences were that I spent a stressed out weekend trying to catch up (okay, okay...I did get a nap in yesterday! But I wasn't procrastinating! I needed to rest! I promise! :) and I missed out on a few fun activities this weekend.

Needless to say, I still have two papers to finish. Ugh. But I just remembered a helpful tip that Susie shared with us once. She received this tip off of some fun little website that I can't seem to remember the name of right at the moment. Anyway, the tip was to set a timer for 15 minutes and then do as much as you can in those 15 minutes. Chances are that you will be into your work by then and you won't stop when that timer goes off! I have proved this to work over and over and over again.

Too bad I forgot that little tip this past month.

And so, life goes on and I will practice again the art of NOT procrastinating! Here's to success! (For me AND for you...if you struggle with the same thing, that is. :o)

Life

You've probably wondered where I've disappeared to, huh? :) I had a very dear friend visiting me this past weekend, so I was busy all weekend! We had a great time, though! Maybe when I get it together, I'll post a few pictures from the weekend. Thus far, I haven't had a moment to put things back in their rightful place. Basically I'm saying that most things remain in a pile in my bedroom. Maybe I'll get to it soon. :)

Aren't you just thankful for things people say or share that just help your day? I'm dealing with some things at work that seem to make life frustrating, but this morning I was reading various blogs and I came across this post. I just appreciated it SO much today! Last week I had decided that my attitude was going to be "kill with kindness," but this morning I lost that vision. Reading this particular blog, though, helped me re-focus, and I'm just really grateful for that!

Do you feel the same way about this type of experience? Just thankful for kind souls that share something that just helps your spirit and your attitude? I'm feeling quite thankful for that kind of a being. And I'm feeling thankful that there seems to be so many of them in my life. :)
