I'm back!!

I'm done with jury duty!!!! YAY!!!!! Closing arguments finished up on Tuesday around 4:30 PM. We chose to go home that day and to start deliberations on Wednesday. We deliberated all day Wednesday and part of Thursday morning. Our final decision was handed over to the Judge at 10:30ish this morning and we were out the door at 11!

It was quite the experience, that's for sure. As I've mentioned to a few people, even though this man chose to do the things he did and even though there was plenty of evidence to support the accusations, it still feels a little intimidating to know that MY vote is going to affect a man's future. I feel very confident about how deliberations went and what our final decisions were, but it's still quite humbling to know the impact of what the verdicts will bring to this man. I don't know that I very much like being the judge of someone's actions, especially when there are two sets of lawyers and two different stories and I'm supposed to sort through everything to find out the truth. That's more responsibility than I'm comfortable with. It's just too serious and too much pressure.

Anyway, if you want to read about the case, e-mail me and I'll share a link with you. I would have left it posted here, but someone left an anonymous comment and now I feel a little unsettled. I guess I'll have to leave anonymous commenting turned off for awhile.

What an experience. Sounds like an interesting case!

I guess I am a little surprised you would post this on the internet because it could potentially put you in jeopardy, especially admitting you were one of the jurors.

Maybe something to consider...but how about owning up to our comments?

@Anonymous -- Interesting you bring that up. I kind of wondered about that when I was IN court, pronouncing MY name to the rest of the court (the defendent's family included) and admitting that MY vote was in agreement with the entire verdict. If I'm "in jeopardy", as you so kindly put it, then it would be because of what they heard and witnessed in court, not because of this.

And I agree with Cheri...way to own up to your comment. Is there a reason that you chose to stay anonymous?
