Compliment

I got back from lunch today to find a very cheerfully colored card sitting in my mailbox. I had no idea what it was or who it was from. I opened it and it said:

"Jennifer, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated everything you did for me and everything you helped me with this semester! I did not receive very much help from anyone else at the University, so I was so pleased that you were always there to help me so much. Thank you!!"

It was from one of the students in our program and her note just made my day! Little things like that just make me feel like my efforts in my job are worth it. :o) I hope that you, too, have had a little something today that's lifted your spirits a bit. We all need that from time to time! :)

It's nice to be appreciated isn't it. What with my retirement coming up you wonder how you've touched someone's life. Was it good, was it bad? And when a person says to you that they feel bad for all the students that could have had me for a teacher and now won't get the chance, this person thought it was a shame. I appreciated that so much because this person has only known me for the last 2 years and that was her impression. Nice. So, yah, it's great to hear something nice every once in awhile. mom

That is nice! Both the compliment to you & to your mom. It does add a burst of sunshine to hear something like that, doesn't it? And for them to take the time to write a little card makes it more special!

So now that you have been reminded how GOOD it makes one feel to be appreciated, pass it on to someone you appreciate! I have read about someone paying for the coffee in the next car back in the drive up, and it keeps going for a long time. Look up "pay it forward", the concept is really interesting. Someone makes your day in some way, then you feel so good, you pass the good feeling on, and it just keeps going.... By the way, we think you are special too! :)

Hi! What a nice thing for that person to do! And thanks for your comment on my blog. I have "checked" yours out before also. Haven't heard of you or met you, right? Interesting you have been told you look like me ;-) We'll have to meet someday...

That's so great--little notes like that really make up for the rest of the garbage--too abd they don't come more often!

Awww... that's sweet. And a good reminder that I need to do this for other people more often.
