Life

Okay, my window is fixed and things are pretty much back to normal. I have an appointment on July 6 to have the inside work done on the car, but the back windshield has been replaced and my car is driveable again (thank goodness!). :)

I'm still struggling this week to get caught up on coursework. I went to my yearly church convention last weekend and then to visit some friends on Monday night (friends who used to live nearby but now live SEVEN hours away) and I tell ya what...all of that time away really put me behind in schoolwork! Don't get me wrong...I enjoyed every minute of it. I've just had to work double time to catch up and I still feel like I'm struggling with it. This weekend, though, I have no plans, so hopefully I'll get caught up AND get ahead on things.

We were thinking that because of budget cuts, the University wasn't going to plant flowers outside our building this year. :( Guess what?! They showed up today and filled up the flower bed! Yay! Usually this is done at the beginning of June but I think that the cooler weather this summer slowed them down a bit. If you remember from previous posts, these flowers end up being quite beautiful (see below)!! I'm glad they didn't cut them out because of budget cuts. :)

Have a good weekend!!

Car Damage

Well, here's my pretty little window! The insurance adjustor came by today and the damage isn't too terrible, but enough to cost a few pennies. :) Fortunately, my car damage was NOT as bad as some others', so I can't complain.

The "window guy" is coming sometime this afternoon to replace the window. I'm looking forward to that! :) I also went out to the body shop and set up an appointment for July 6 to get the back inside panel fixed (the back panel that you see in the second picture) as well as the dents to the exterior of the car. There are only small nickel-sized dents, so nothing too bad. I'll be glad when everything is DONE and I have my car back full-time! :)

Medical Bill #1

Of course, most of my medical bills would show up in the mail yesterday...a day after my car is damaged by a storm. *sigh* Oh, well. Such is life.

Anyway, medical bill number one totals $3,916.65. This will be the biggest bill, I think, since it's for the nuclear medicine dept.

My insurance covers $3,387.90, so I have to pay out-of-pocket $528.75.

My point? I am thankful that I have health insurance. You really learn how valuable it can be in situations like this. I truly feel for people who get caught in huge medical crises without any health insurance. I honestly don't know if a person would ever financially recover! :(

Okay...all for now! I'm off to pay my bills! :)

My borrowed wheels

Here's the car that I'm going to be renting for a few days. Bummer, huh? :o)

Oy Vey.

So, I said I'd post on my blog if anything came up, so here I am! Yesterday, I was in a town that's about 1 1/2 hours from here and I was at our yearly church convention. I was going to come home around Noon yesterday, but then I decided that I'd stay for the afternoon and then just get going soon after things ended at four. So, four o'clock rolls around and about 4:15 I head to my car to take off. Half way out to my car, I heard something hit the ground near me and I thought someone threw something. Well, the same sound occurred just in FRONT of me and I realized that it was starting to hail and that was the sound I was hearing. About two nano-seconds after that, though, there was another thing of hail and that was the point that I realized that it wasn't just little bitty pieces of hail, but it was baseball sized hail. I (and everyone else) started running for the nearest building for the next fifteen minutes, we just stayed inside and watched.

I don't really know how long the big hail fell, but after it stopped, it then start pouring out, mixed with smaller hail. Needless to say, the rain calmed down after awhile, so I headed out to my car to try and take off. It was 4:30ish by this point and I was ready to hit the road! I checked the car and all was well...until I got into the car and noticed something on my seat. Yeah. The hail blew out my back window. :( I was so discouraged!! I drove up to where my friends were and some of them helped me to get the big chunks cleaned up/vaccumed up and then we got the back covered with plastic. My friend rode home with me and we made it half way home before the plastic was sucked off the window. :( So, we just pulled it off and drove the rest of the way home with no window! :) It was actually a nice afternoon out and so the ride wasn't too bad. Just a gentle breeze going through the car. :) We got into town and decided to hang out with some friends, so they helped me put a new plastic covering on the back to get me by for awhile.

I called in the claim this morning and I have a rental car lined up starting this afternoon and they're coming on Wednesday afternoon to replace the window. Keep your fingers crossed that we have NICE days with no rain! :) After the window is replaced, I'll take the rental car back and we'll just see what happens. The adjustor is going to come by sometime before Friday, so we'll see how that goes. I'll try to get pictures just before they replace the window. It was pretty incredible. I'm not sure how big the hail stone was, but it blew out my window (I'm finding pieces of glass all over the front dashboard/floorboards/seats, etc.) and then it busted through the plastic paneling that runs through the back of the car (behind the back seat headrests...where the speakers are). There's glass all over the inside of my trunk, too, and everything that had been in there is just soaked, so we'll see how bad the damage is. I don't really understand how all of the glass ended up in the trunk (WAY in the back, even!) and I'm not sure about the water, either (but that one does make a little more sense).

Anyway, there's your update. I'll put up pictures when/if I can. All for now!

My life

Well, first off, I log into blogger this morning and I find that they FINALLY have some new templates to choose from! It's about time that they caught up with the rest of the world. :) I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the one I have on here for very long or if I'll go back to what I had for awhile. We'll see!

So, you haven't heard much from me because I've been super busy. I was taking two summer classes up until Monday. Then, I started two more. I am now taking FOUR summer classes at the University for the next four weeks. My point? I'm. Busy. So, don't expect to hear from me very much (if at all!) until after July 9. If something strikes my fancy and I want to post about it, I will. However, I'm not going to plan on blogging until after these four weeks are over. ANY spare time that I have is being focused on school, I'm afraid. Such is life, though! :)

Enjoy the next few weeks! See you soon! :)

Zee Parents Have Departed

Well, I waved good-bye to Mom & Dad this morning and then headed back to work. :( I just can't believe how quickly the time flew by! As I was going to sleep last night, I was thinking about when Mom got here on the 24th and about all we did and I just couldn't believe how fast the time went. It was nice to have them here, that's for sure! The next time I'll see them is Christmas, I think, unless it works out for Mom to come here sometime this fall. We'll see.

As for school...well, no more messing around! I don't have the excuse of my parents being here anymore, so there's no reason to postpone homework. Waaahhh!!! :o) On Monday, I'll start two more classes and then for about four weeks, I'll have four classes going on. If I use my time wisely, it shouldn't be a problem!! :) The end is in sight! :)

Okay, all for now. I have lots to catch up on at work today. See ya!

Parent's Visit

I'm going to pull a MelB Marvis and use bullets. :)
  • My parents are here and we're having a good time. Dad's arthritis is kicking his butt, though, so he's been sleeping a lot and just laying low. It's kind of a bummer, but that's the nature of the beast, I guess.
  • I'm taking two online summer classes right now and one of them is kicking MY butt. :( No joke. There's SO much involved with it, that I'm just gritting my teeth to get through it. My daily mantra is, "I can do this, I can do this!" :)
  • Mom and I were going to go shopping last weekend in the big city, but severe weather warnings halted us in our tracks. It allowed me to catch up on my classwork, but we still haven't been able to make up the canceled outing! Maybe Monday? If dad's arthritis continues acting up, we may have to leave him home to rest and then go shopping, just us girls! :)
  • I'll go back to work next Thursday and Mom & Dad will leave that morning. The time is going quickly!
  • On Monday, June 14, I'll start two more summer classes (one online and one in a classroom) and for FOUR WEEKS, I'll be taking four classes. Yikes! It's worth it, right? After all, after that, I'll only have FIVE classes left to finish my bachelor's degree! Wahoo! :)
  • Mom and I have only played ONE game of scrabble since she's been here and that was with Sandy & Jolene (friends of mine). Otherwise, we've just been traveling a bit and working on homework (I've been working on homework. :).
  • Today, I think we're going to travel over the mountain because they just opened the road last weekend and we've heard that there's 12 feet of snow still up there! Next week sometime, we might go to one of the local national parks, too, where it's common to see LOTS of elk.

That's all for now! I feel like I'm forgetting lots, but that's what happens when you don't post for over a week! :) We're enjoying our time together, but, as always, it's going so quickly. I guess we'll just appreciate every minute! :)
