It was a fantastic day and we had a lot of fun!! We did find her a dress and I'll give you a peek of it in the grand finale of this post. :)
We started the day at a large bridal store and it was a two-hour event, but it ended up being good in the long run. Let me tell you, though, if you ever go shopping for a bridal gown, there will be some down right scary moments...or should I say dresses!! :) Monique tried on at least a dozen dresses at the first place and sometimes I wouldn't even let her out of the dressing room because the dress was SO not Mo! Other times, though, we had a lot of fun trying to figure things out by piecing and pulling and tightening dresses here and there to determine if it was something that would work.
After that, we headed to a couple of smaller shops to look at things, but ended up back at the first place with some final decisions. Here are some snapshots of the day...
I really tried to convince Monique that these were the perfect shoes for her perfect day, but she just wouldn't believe me!! Needless to say, we left them at the store. :( I think that they're a lot of fun, don't you?!? :)
At one of our next stores, Monique tried to convince me that this was the perfect hairpiece for her perfect day! I said, "Yeah. Not so much." :)
This next photo doesn't even begin to give you a glimpse of all of the dresses that Monique tried on. She told me later on that at the first store, she started to have so many dresses in her dressing room that she thought, "Something has got to change!" Needless to say, we started taking care of things. :)
So...what do you think of this as a bridesmaid dress? What? No?!? Well, then, how about....
...THIS!!!! Talk about fancy!!!
Monique, the wedding dress model. :) This was actually a very nice dress that may have ended up in Monique's closet, but we couldn't get the entire dress to come together like it should. Just ask Mo...I think I gave her whiplash from all of the twisting and turning I forced her to do. :)

Now this dress was a lot of fun, but Monique was not buying the renaissance style sleeves. I don't think it would have worked anyway because the top was way too bulky and it didn't fit very nicely.

I was going to buy this 12-foot veil for myself in the event that I might get married someday, but I took one look at the $190.00 price tag and screamed. Then I hung it back on the rack.

Needless to say, by the end of the day, we were exhausted. Don't believe me? Does this following picture LOOK like a picture of someone who's full of energy? Yeah...I don't think so...
Shortly after this picture, I said to Monique, "Can we please go home now!?!?" Do you know what she said? She said, "No! We have to finalize a few more things. I said, "WHAT?!?!?
Oh, come on. You don't really think I'd show you the ACTUAL dress, do you!?!? I think if I did, Monique would probably have some not-so-nice people come and teach me a lesson or two. :) You'll just have to wait and see what it looks like!!! :) For now, you get to look at the pretty bag that it's hiding in. :)

After she got done laughing at my obnoxious expressions, we headed back to the first store to finalize things and...here, my friends, is a sneek peek at Monique's wedding dress!!!!!
It was a good end to a great day!! Monique, of course, will make a beautiful bride and I am excited for the day that she will wear this dress! :)

HOW fun!!! I loved going dress shopping with my friends. Since i ordered my wedding dress online, I never went shopping! lol I know how exhausting it can be though!! You're a trooper and an awesome friend!! :)
Jen, hilarious footage of our marathan shopping day! You ARE a trooper and awesome friend!!!!! I don't know what I would have done without you yesterday -- complete with making me laugh so hard when at first this task seemed utterly hopeless! :)
What fun!!!! Wish I could have been the clerk/assistant in the store...she's still recovering too, I'm sure! :) the beginning of wonderful memories! :) LW
I actually DO think those shoes are fun! GAWD, though, I can't believe what people think is acceptable as a bridesmaid's dress!
Too funny, Jen! Thanks for the footage, I was thinking about you two and your shop-a-thon all day. Glad you came home with the perfect dress and I have to admit that you had me going for a minute about posting a picture of Mo in the real dress. Whew! :)
Love, Michelle
Love the whole story of your shopping trip. Lots of fun and you are a trooper! Glad you made it to all the places you were going. I think maybe a GPS is on the list of things Monique needs. Oh well, her aunt will have to do. :-)
David's Bridal - that's where I go to get my wedding dresses too. At first I was confused by that last picture since Verizon Wireless typically doesn't sell wedding dresses.
awesome post, jen! that one should be printed off for mo's wedding journal, or keepsake book, or whatever.
now i need to know...are you planning a bridal shower?
Thanks Jen,for posting about your shopping day. I'm sure it was a tiring day, but a great day, too. Linda
Guess it was a good thing I didn't get to go! :) I was tired after reading the blog and laughing with Mo as she told us after Mtg yesterday about the trip. And to think she took you, Jen, for an honest opinion! :) I think I should take you with me...those mirrors in the dress stores...lie! I never look at home like I did in the store...what's the deal? I was a little worried too, that we or Daren mainly might see Mo in THE dress! How like you to keep us going! Keep up the good work! Kathy Wms
Unforgetable day!! I'm so impressed that you gotter done in one day!!! Way to be decisive Mo!! Way to BE THERE Jen... Just know that nothing about the dress or the head piece or the veil or the AWESOME shoes is going to sparkle more than Mo's eyes and smile... YAY!! Love Marcia
Great post Jen!! Looks like you two had a wonderful day! :-)

I vaguely remember going wedding dress shopping, it was an all day deal in Cheyenne. After that all day, mom surprised me with all the satin and lace she could buy and made the dress for me. Memories of this special time are so awesome. Its great that you did it together and had a wonderful time, also the pic of the dress was....well shall we say leading. lol :-)
Looks like lots of fun!!! And I agree - exhausting!
Thanks for sharing, Jen. Just awesome to think we are on the other side of the world (almost anyway, but I don't have a globe so not sure) and can share in your shopping day.
fun documentation of such an exciting shopping day! :) can't wait to see the real one!
Thank you for all of your sweet comments as of late. :) I loved this post, made me laugh right out loud. You seem like the perfect shopping companion!
