Yellowstone Trip: Day 2 - Mammoth Hot Springs

After our journey through Beartooth Pass, we entered Yellowstone Park through the North East entrance and followed it to the road that took us on the Northern road of the upper loop. We wanted to go see the Mammoth Hot Springs and that's the road that took us there! :)

Mammoth is a small little village that has, "Do NOT feed the elk!" signs everywhere, but we never did get to see any elk in the village. We just ate a really expensive meal there from the local mart (nachos and a soda cost me $9!!!) and then toured around the hot springs. What's interesting about the springs is that their formation give them a step-like appearance, so there are levels of these springs and hot waters just run down the steps. It's really unique!

I love going to Yellowstone, but haven't been there for several years. Looking at your pictures is the "next best thing" to being there myself! Keep up the good work!!

I LOVE Beartooth pass. It is one of my favorite spots in just about the whole world. I have to say 'just about' to leave room for all the places I haven't yet been; there may just be one that beats it... I'm a little doubtful though.

And I can't believe you didn't see any elk. When we went through there beginning of August, they were littering the sidewalks, piled up in hordes on the lawns, causing traffic jams in the streets... This being near-October, though, I guess they've all migrated down to where the big boys are.

Hi Jen! Those are BEAUTIFUL pictures of Yellowstone!
I've been to the 'grand canyon of the Yellowstone' a few times now--but always kind of quickly & have NOT (unfortunately) taken the time to go to that cool platform, etc. I will DEFINITELY need to make a point to do that next time!
Have a good rest of the week!!!
