To procrastinate is: to defer action; delay: to procrastinate until an opportunity is lost.
Second definition of procrastination: ME.
Yes, I do believe that I'm the queen of procrastination!! This weekend, I had three papers and four class journals to complete so that I can submit them on Tuesday. How long have I had to prepare these items? One month. When did I start? Last week. Aye carumba.
I obviously became VERY lazy with these tasks over the past month and I sure had plenty of excuses as to why I was behind and why I wasn't getting things done. A friend of mine has often said to me, "Just do it!"...unfortunately, I did not practice that this past month. (Not that I wasn't way busy with other things this month...just not with this particular class.) So, my consequences were that I spent a stressed out weekend trying to catch up (okay, okay...I did get a nap in yesterday! But I wasn't procrastinating! I needed to rest! I promise! :) and I missed out on a few fun activities this weekend.
Needless to say, I still have two papers to finish. Ugh. But I just remembered a helpful tip that Susie shared with us once. She received this tip off of some fun little website that I can't seem to remember the name of right at the moment. Anyway, the tip was to set a timer for 15 minutes and then do as much as you can in those 15 minutes. Chances are that you will be into your work by then and you won't stop when that timer goes off! I have proved this to work over and over and over again.
Too bad I forgot that little tip this past month.
And so, life goes on and I will practice again the art of NOT procrastinating! Here's to success! (For me AND for you...if you struggle with the same thing, that is. :o)

I'm going to try that 15 minute tip! Or maybe I'll make it 10 minutes. My dad said once that the hardest part of a job is just starting it. I have to break things down into little bits or I easily get overwhelmed.
As I was reading your blog, I thought "I need to remind her about Flylady.net again" Then you mentioned it. She also recommends do something for 15 minutes, then go do something else more fun for 15 minutes to reward yourself. then go back to work for 15 minutes. I use this for doing things that seem too big to tackle, just a bite at a time eats the job away in no time!
You & I will rule the kingdom together as queens of procrastination, my dear :) I like that 15 minute tip! I will try it!
