Well, I've been pondering this post for a few days now so I guess it's time to actually post it! I think that I've left my hot air balloon post up for a decent amount of time now and it's time for something new.
I love fall. That's all there is to it...I love it! (The only bummer of it is that I get quite homesick, but I usually am able to manage. :) But being all happy these days because of the crisp, fall air and the beautiful leaves got me to thinking about inspirational stuff.
As most of you know, I LOVE self-help books. Not to say that I ever do anything with them, but I love to read them and see what they suggest! As I read these books, I often jot down thoughts or paragraphs or phrases that appeal to me and I store them up to read on days when I feel kind of blue. Two of them are already posted on my blog. But thinking of what I write down and save has made me wonder...
Do you have a quote or a phrase or a reading that just trips your trigger? Something that makes you smile or lifts your spirit or makes you just stop and breathe and feel thankful? I want to hear them! I think that we ALL love different quotes, so please share!!
In addition to the two that are already on my blog (which I won't repeat in this post!), I'll add two more that I've really appreciated in the last week or so. Both come from a co-worker of mine and, honestly, I don't know if he realized how much I needed to hear those comments in the moments he said them! I look forward to what you have to add to this post!! :)
Quotes from co-worker
~ No one ever went blind looking at the bright side of life!!
~ Remember...every day is a once in a lifetime opportunity!!

Here's one: "I'd rather have smile wrinkles than worry warts."

(This will be a fun post...I hope you get lots of responses!)
Here's a couple:
Be yourself. Nobody is better qualified.
No day is so bad that it can't be fixed with a nap.
Would you like to speak to the man in charge or the woman who knows what's happening?
Currently my favorite is..."You have two ears and one mouth - use them proportionally."
All time favorite... "It's impossible to fall when you are on your knees."
Energy flows in the direction of thought.
Don't know if this counts, but the "phrase" I love hearing the most these days and always makes me smile is the beautiful babblings of my little neice. I can't undersand a word she says, but it just sounds so enthusiastic and heartfelt. And even though I can't understand her words, the cheery little spirit she clearly expresses always brightens my day.
Here's a quote that I have enjoyed recently ~ it applies to so many parts of our lives:
Yesterday was to learn and tomorrow will be the consequence of what I do today.
Great post Jen!
Here's a few that I read on the back of the tea box this morning:
"Don't let weeds grow around your dreams"
"Remember that everyone you meet is afraid of something, loves something, and has lost something"
One thing my dear dad-in-law sometimes says, that I appreciate very much, is:
Let the past be the past, at last.
A couple of quotes for overwhelming experiences:
"In the big picture, this is really a very small thing."
"This too shall pass"
I love all these quotes! I am a quote lover - but two that have stayed with me since I was a child came from my grandma. She used to tell us:
Everything you do, do with all your might. Things done by half power are never done right.
And...
Good, better, best. Never let it rest. 'Til your good is better and your better is best.
Great post!!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving with a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, throughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming--"WOW! What a ride!"
**Guess who?
This isn't really a quote but we heard it at convention and I think it's great!
"God SAID it. I BELIEVED it. That SETTLES it."
And another fun one:
"Laugh uncontrollably...it clears the mind."
What a fun post!! I have always enjoyed "we don't remember days...we remember moments"
Hey Jen,
I love this post.
One of my favorites that my mom always said.
"Don't try to direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, will direct your course."
"Your actions speak so loudly that I cannot hear what you say."
I can't quote it verbatim, but I also like the quote that talks about how people won't remember what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel.
And lastly, "Why should I be a victim of YOUR learning curve?"
I like both of Mel's!
Here's mine:
Never doubt in the darkness what God has shown you in the light.
Great quotes on here - this is awesome! My all time favorite quote that I fall back on often came from Lowell S. "Life by the yard is hard, life by the inch is a cinch".
On the funny side, here is what Justin quotes every time I go to donate blood: "Give blood, play hockey!" Very deep thinker I married!:)
I love these sayings! I wish I had a really good one, too, but I don't....oh yeah, my granny always said, "Never put off for tomorrow what you could do today"....I'm not so sure I like that one, I think it means you shouldn't be lazy...I like being lazy at times. Mom
Here I've been out of the blog world for a bit and missed this great post till now, Jen.
My quote - one of many, many favorites - is:
You can't slam the door on a brother and expect to enjoy the open windows of Heaven.
Someone once told me that when we are angry we are supposed to stop talking, or "shut the door" (our mouth.) Then they said that you'll notice, if you just shut the screen door (say the rest of this with your teeth clenched), you can still keep talking.
This is cool.. I love quotes too. Here is a great one : The worst enemy of "best" is often "good".
